Floral #01 Printed Paper Tapered Empire Lampshade
Every Munro and Kerr lampshade is made to order, and is made by hand to your requirements in our south London studio.
The wonderful "Chiyogami" hand screen printed paper used to make this EMPIRE lampshade was created in Japan. The designs were originally based on the bright kimono textiles from Edo period (1603-1868) which the papermakers from the countryside saw on the fashionable wealthier ladies in the larger cities. To create a single completed sheet of Chiyogami, each base sheet is silkscreened with as many colours as there are in that particular pattern - in most cases, four or five colours.
Colours
Metallic gold, yellow, duckegg, pale green, pale grey, grey, created on a cream base paper.
As the paper is handmade, there will be slight variations in pattern and colour from the photos shown.
Linings
The metallic linings have been created so that no light travels through the lampshade, this means the colour of the lining does not alter the colour and pattern on the outside of the lampshade when lit.
Alternatively, the white PVC lining will allow an amount of light through the shade, creating a warm glow when lit and highlighting the colour and pattern on the outside.
The colour of the lampshade frame will be matched to your lining choice.
